// nearshore QA automation · UTC−5

QA automation without the overhead.

I’m Alejandro Botero, a senior SDET with 14+ years of building test automation. I design, fix and run UI, API, performance and mobile test suites for software teams in the US, Canada and Europe — directly, in your working hours, with no agency layers.

  • 14+ years in test automation

Illustrative run: one suite covering UI, API, performance and mobile checks, running headless in CI on every merge.

From a first framework to a suite your team trusts.

Every engagement starts from your product and your stack — not from my favourite tool. Not sure where to begin? Start with an assessment.

01

Assess

Know what to fix first before spending on a build.

02

Build & modernize

A foundation that is fast, readable and easy to extend.

  • Framework design & build

    Playwright or Selenium in TypeScript, JavaScript, Java or C# — page objects, fixtures, test data, reporting and docs, plus your first critical journeys.

  • Migration & modernization

    Move a legacy suite (Protractor, old Selenium, WebdriverIO) to a modern stack in deliberate steps, without losing coverage along the way.

  • Coverage expansion

    Automate the high-value regression scenarios your team keeps testing by hand.

03

Go beyond the UI

Catch problems at the layer where they are cheapest.

  • API testing

    Functional and contract tests with RestAssured, Postman or Playwright’s request API — fast feedback without a browser.

  • Performance testing

    JMeter load and stress tests with clear baselines, so you know how releases change response times before your users do.

  • Mobile automation

    Appium-based checks for the native and hybrid app journeys that matter most.

04

Keep it green

Tests are only useful if people trust the results.

  • CI/CD integration

    Tests running headless on every merge in GitHub Actions, Jenkins or Azure DevOps, with reports and failure artifacts people actually read.

  • Flaky suite rescue

    Find and fix the timing, data and environment problems behind intermittent failures, and stop new ones from creeping in.

  • AI-assisted QA

    Use AI agents to draft tests, triage failures and keep suites up to date — with an experienced engineer reviewing every change.

  • Ongoing support & enablement

    A monthly block of senior QA time for your backlog, plus pairing and handover so your engineers own the suite.

// stack

Fluent in the tools you already use.

Fourteen years means I’ve worked across many stacks. I’ll recommend what fits your team, not what’s trending.

// how it works

Clear scope before code.

  1. 01

    Talk

    A 30-minute call about your product, current tests and what is slowing releases down.

  2. 02

    Scope

    A short written proposal: deliverables, assumptions, schedule and a fixed fee or monthly rate.

  3. 03

    Deliver

    Work in small, visible increments in your repo, with weekly updates and risks raised early.

  4. 04

    Hand over

    Docs, a walkthrough and a suite your team can run and extend without me.

Assessment

Fixed fee, one to two weeks. The low-risk way to start.

Project

Fixed scope and fee for a framework, migration or rescue.

Monthly

A reserved block of hours as your embedded senior QA engineer.

// about

You work with the engineer doing the work.

I built my first Selenium WebDriver framework in 2009, when browser automation was still a niche. Since then I’ve created and led automation for web platforms, APIs, live casino games and cloud infrastructure, and trained the developers and QA engineers who maintain them.

HeadlessQA is my independent practice. The name says what you get: no account managers, no handoff chain, no overhead — just a senior engineer in your Slack, in your time zone.

// contact

Tell me what’s slowing your releases down.

A few lines about your product, your current tests and what you’d like to improve is plenty. I reply within one business day.
